Nassau, Bahamas day 3: Stix & Filia

Got up pretty early since I went to bed early. I was still feeling out of it. Headed to Starbucks to get some tea & coffee then hit the casino floor. Tried to make up for missing out on gambling the night before... well that ended up being a bad idea cause the slots were showing no love.

Eventually everyone got up and we tried to get some lunch. I really wanted a hot dog from Sandy Dog Gourmet Hot Dogs. Which was located out in the pool area by the beach. It's located on the opposite side of the pier. We had a hard time finding it.

A tropical storm was rolling through and it was pouring. Baha Mar offers complimentary umbrellas that you can get from the valet.

I didnt' know that Sandy Dog was located on the opposite side of the pier. On the pier side was El Jefe (Mexican) & Flame to Smoke (BBQ) they're set up like food trucks. Unfortunately they were closed due to the rain so we didn't get to try it.

So we ended up settling for Stix Noodle Bar which was one of the restaurants that was open a year ago and I remember it not being that great and overpriced, but we didn't really have that many options for lunch with the rain closing down a lot of the pool area food stalls.

Baked Pork Buns $10 for 3. Price is already outrageous and to make matters worse, they tasted like they were frozen store bought and reheated.

Stix Ramen $22. The soup base tasted very similar to packaged Ramen I used to have at home for a buck. The flavor was bad. I liked packaged Ramen, it just that I expected more for the price. I like a soft boiled egg with my Ramen, but that didn't pan out. The pork belly was delcious though. I would have ordered an extra side of the pork belly if I had known how good it was.

"Tom Yam Kong" King Prawn Noodle Soup $22. Tammy like it and said it was a little spicy.

By the time we finished lunch. The storm had passed and the aviary was open. They open from 10-11am & 2-3 pm. The morning session is the feeding session from what I was told. They give you seed sticks to feed the birds.

I was expecting some exotic parrots or something, but that's not what I got. You can probably spend about 10 minutes in the place. Most of the bird are up in the branches minding their own business. The child care place across from the aviary had bird cages also and I saw that that they had Love birds. Unsure if they were tame or not.

We ended up at the beach and pool again getting wasted. Sandy Dog opened back up but ended up only getting the three hot dogs that they had left before closing for the evening. I didn't try it but heard it was good. I think hot dog combos were $15-18.

I ended up falling asleep at the pool cause I was still out of it. Phat's friend Mikka arrived around 5 pm and the group spent the rest of the time at the pool.

Made our way back to our room to get ready for dinner. We had dinner at Filia (Italian)

Grilled Giant Prawn: garlic butter, parsley, lemon. I didn't order one, but people were raving about how good it was. They were starting to grill these at the buffet the other day but we were already leaving so unsure if they are the same.

Corn Agnolotti: roasted lobster sauce. $28 This dish was pretty good, I really enjoyed the pasta. They were like raviolis filled with a corn puree.

Snapper Tartare $17. Tammy like this dish.

Some of the dishes were taking longer than usual, but since it was taking so long they gave us a free Margherita Pizza which was really good.

Grilled 16oz Pork Chop: apricot mostarda, long bean, jus. $46 Tammy said it was really good also.

There's this giant 8 between SLS and Baha Mar that takes a photo of you and recreates your photo with a bunch of emojis.

The night that I passed out early some of the guys toured the pool at Rosewood and said it was really nice. I wanted to go see it, but they ended up denying us access on this night.

We pretty much just gambled for the rest of the night.

That ends day 3. Tomorrow we head to downtown to do some souvenir shopping.
