Nassau, Bahamas day 2: Oh Andros Fish Fry & 3 Tides restaurant

Started our morning with coffee from Starbucks.

We headed out to the Fish Fry for lunch.

We walked to the main road to catch a bus.

We took public transportation. It cost $1.25 per person. You pay when you get off the bus. We were told to to jump on the 10 straight or 12 to get to the Fish Fry. We jumped on the wrong bus. I think we were on the 10a, figured out when they say 10 straight that just means the 10 w/o a letter.

We ended up in downtown which was fine. Since we never been before. We got off and walked around for a bit.

There are a few designer shops around and everything is about 5-15% cheaper than state side and no tax.

Eventually we got on the correct bus. If you're ever unsure about which bus to take. Just ask the driver. They'll tell you which bus and when to get off. We were approached several times by taxi drives offering us rides. We generally got quoted $5 per person for our group, but unsure how much they would charge for smaller groups.

Last year when we visited the Fish Fry we took the locals advice and visited the restaurants they recommended. One of Frankie's Gone Bananas. When I returned from that trip I realized we missed one of the top rated Fish Fry Oh Andros. So this time we made it a point to go directly there. You will get locals that will try to coax you to dine at certain places, but we headed straight for Oh Andros.

Oh Andros

It's a small place.

Even though it wasn't that busy. It does take a long time to get your food. We timed it at 50 minutes before we got our food from the time we entered the building and got sat.

Conch fritters. Delicious, if you don't like fried batter you might want to skip this. It's bits of conch deep fried in batter. I like fried stuff so this was delicious.

Tammy and I shared the Seafood platter. You have the option of grilled or fried. We got fried and oh boy were the portions huge. 1 whole lobster tail, 4 giant prawns, and fish. Comes with a large amount of peas and rice, which to me was more like red beans and rice, and you get the option of two sides (plantains, potato salad, macaroni (mac & cheese), or tomato slices). We didn't even come close to finishing it. You can easily feed two people. The food was delicious. Oh Andros did not disappoint.

We took a taxi back to Baha Mar cause we wanted to stop by 700 Wine & Spirit on our way back to the hotel to pick up some alcohol but they were closed. So they dropped us off and Phat & Rick had the taxi guy take them to another liquor store.

While they were gone we headed to the Sanctuary. It's free to look around, but it cost money to do the encounter, where you get to swim, touch and feed the sea life. I think it was $60-70 per person.

This guy was constantly trying to find a way out.

When Phat and Rick got back with liquor we headed to Phat's suite to get our drink on.

Then we filled up a hydro flask and headed back to the pool.

The rain curtains were on.

You also get access to SLS pool. Which was more of an upbeat spot. Just a plain pool but they had good music playing.

We ended up at Dean's Blue Hole.

The lifeguard talk a guy into jumping with all his clothes on.

We moved from pool to pool.

We just drank and lounged in the pool.

Headed back to our room to get ready for dinner. Tammy was drunk.

We dined at 3 Tides

Strawberry cheesecake shake in the making. Looked delicious, but they weren't finished dressing it up. It gets topped with a slice of cheesecake, chocolate covered strawberry and cotton candy.

Not my photo, but this is what I found online.

Complimentary cornbread. It was whatever.

Crunchy Shrimp Roll, Phat said it was really good.

Rib-eye which Tammy really liked.

3 Tides burger.

I got the Fried Chicken sandwich with apple slaw. It was tasty $20. Compared to all the other restaurant prices and flavors I liked 3 Tides the best. Reasonably priced compared to the other resort restaurants and you get a good amount of food.

I think is the spaghetti with scallops.

They do have a water show every 15 minutes and ends at 11 pm. It's nowhere near as good as the one at Bellagio though.

After we ate I started feeling sick so I called it a night and went to bed around 10:30pm. I know super lame.

That ends day 2. Unsure what we have planned for tomorrow, but we'll see.
