Overlanding Mojave National Preserve day 3 & 4

Woke up pretty early. Instead of having breakfast, we decided to search for a new camp first. Who knows how long it will take before we find a good one.

I didn't expect to see cows out here.

On our search for a new campsite. We came across Hole-In-The-Wall. Decided to stop by and check it out.

Someone made a climbing wall.

This place was awesome. Nobody was around and the further you ventured in the better it got.

There were these rings installed to make it easier to access the higher parts.

After our quick tour, we continued our hunt for a campsite.

We eventually made our way to Providence Mountains State Recreational Area but found out we couldn't camp there. So we turned around and just happened to see some people leaving their campsite that we passed earlier and we ended up taking their spot.

Set up camp, now we can eat breakfast.

Garlic shrimp with leftover crispy seafood fried rice and beef bulgogi.

After breakfast went and hiked the surrounding mountains.

Honestly, the hike was pretty easy and had spectacular views.

We had great cellular reception at the top of the mountain though so we facetime some family and friends.

At night we hiked back up to the mountain. Quite creepy once you get to the top and turn off your light, but worth it for the view.

Since it was our last night we stayed up until we ran out of firewood.

Next morning it was time to clean up and head out.

We were just camping in those mountains.
The trip started off with some rough weather, but I was glad that I went on the trip.
After I returned I did a bit of research and there are so many things to explore in the Mojave Desert.

Social Pool. An art installation that required you to get a key from the West Hollywood Art Institute to unlock the pool and you would have access to it for the day. You also needed the GPS coordinates to find it. I heard the pool has been severely damaged/vandalized since 2016. They are trying to restore it, but who knows when that will be.

Mojave Mailbox. It's not functional but something you could visit.

Frog Shrine

I think there are more easter eggs to be discovered. These are just a few.

Quite the experience to be self-reliant and off the grid for a few days. Definitely would go again but with warmer weather next time.
