Houston, TX Day 2: Houston Museum of Natural Science

Monday morning had breakfast at Blacksmith

Thought we were going to a restaurant, but found out that it was a cafe.

Cold brew & Latte

Kentucky Hot Brown Sandwich- pain de mie (bread), fire roasted turkey, bacon, mornay sauce.

It was pretty good. It was like an open face turkey, bacon and cheese sandwich.

Vietnamese Steak & Eggs- served with french bread & house pate.

This was pretty tasty. It was two eggs over cubed steak sauteed with onions.

Biscuit with creme fraiche & jam- the biscuit was warm and toasty. Can't go wrong with this.

After breakfast we went to the Houston Museum of Natural Science.

General admission was $25.

I guess no one was paying attention to us and we just walked into the exhibit. Nobody asked for our tickets, but I saw later that they were ripping people tickets though.

Morian Hall of Paleontology- I love dinosaurs and this was the main reason I wanted visit.

Faberge Royal Gifts- World's largest private collection of Faberge.

Was just watching Peaky Blinders the night before and there was mention of a Faberge Egg, so it was neat to see his items in person.

We literally skimmed through the museum, didn't watching any video or do activities. We just looked at everything and it took us about 4 hours. You can really spend a good amount of time here. This museum was definitely worth the admission. There also a few other premium exhibits at an extra cost also.

After HMNS we headed to Anvil Bar and Refuge for a mid day cocktail.

They have 100 recipes on the menu.

Scotch Eggs

Ramos Gin Fizz-takes a long time to prepare this drink, but it was delicious.

For dinner we ended up at Caltivare. It was really busy for a Monday. So we had to wait about 30 minutes before we got seated.

Grilled Figs with prosciutto and blue cheese. This was delicious.

Tammy could barely keep her eyes open, so we ended up getting the rest of our food to-go.

Gnocchi- this was okay. I wish there was a sauce.
Pizza Antica still makes the best Gnocchi I've had yet.

Margherita Pizza- this was a bit too salty, was a bit disappointed with this.

Pretty much stayed in for the rest of the night.

Had the complimentary hotel breakfast the next morning.

Dropped off the car and headed to the airport.

Seriously some people have no common courtesy.

That ends the trip for Houston. It was a nice visit, but I'm glad to be back home.
