San Francisco: Cassava, Cal Academy of Science, & Japanese Tea Garden

Had a weekday off. So we decided to head to San Francisco to just wonder around.

Went to Cassava for lunch.

Roasted Cornish Hen, arugula & stone fruits salad.

Slow Braised Barbecue Pork Ribs, roasted potatoes, corn, tomato, pickled red onion.

After lunch we headed over to Golden Gate Park to visit the California Academy of Sciences. We originally wanted to check out the Exploratorium but it was closed on Monday.

General admission $35.95. Save $5 if you're a student.

The CA of Sciences has a nice mix exhibits. Only one dino though. They need more dinosaurs.

Tusher African Hall

There's also Penguin feeding times.

Can you find the hidden bird?

The Swamp. The albino alligator has been here for years.

Osher Rainforest. I recommend going here first because the exiting elevator will take you to the beginning of the Steinhart Aquarium.

There are butterflies freely flying around.

You'll follow the spiral walkway to the top of the dome where you'll find the exit elevator that takes you down to the aquarium.

Discovery Tide Pool

Philippine Coral Reef

Since it was a weekday the place was empty. It took us about 2 hours to skim through the CA of Sciences after we walked across the way to the Japanese Tea Garden.

$9 admission.

I have been to the Japanese Tea Garden on several occasions, but have never sat down to have tea. So I made sure to try it this time.

It was a nice day out and having tea and snacks at the garden was so relaxing. I don't know why I don't do this more often.

Tea House menu.

We had mini nut tarts, Tea House cookies, Tea sandwiches, & Sencha tea.

After the Tea Garden we headed home. It was a nice just to have a day off with no agenda.
