12th Annual October trip (day 1) Bosscat Libations, Haunted Lounge, & Queen Mary Dark Harbor

Another year and another trip to SoCal.

Landed around 9:30 am. Had a bit of time to burn before brunch. So we headed to Coffee Nature.
Honey Nut Latte which was the special for the day and was delicious.

11 am we headed to Bosscat Kitchen & Libations for brunch. I'd recommend reservations which I made months ago, but when we arrived there was already a line outside.

We were here for the the bottomless mimosas. $32 gets you bottomless mimosas and an entree.

Met up with a few friends I haven't seen in a while since they moved to SoCal.

I think this was the chopped salad.

Pork Belly Tacos. Pretty much bacon scramble tacos. A bit disappointing, was expecting thick cut pork belly.

Salmon-Veggie hash: roasted salmon, mixed vegetables, egg whites. Tammy liked this.

Totchos: tater tots, Spanish chorizo, nacho cheese, jalapeno, fried egg. This was pretty good.

Fruity Pebble French Toast: bacon, condensed milk glaze, fresh berries. If you have a sweet tooth, you'll like this.

Chicken Fried Steak: topped with gumbo gravy. It was a bit salty for my liking.

Donut Burger: midwest beef patties, american cheese, bacon, duck fat fried egg. A bit difficult to eat, but sweet, salty, and savory.

Nothing starts a trip like shots.

After brunch we visited the Haunted Lounge at Amber Waves.

Decorations this year was a lot better.

They had a mad science lab theme going.

Had to stop by here to get my shot glass and to visit Daniel our bartender that we see every year. He still remembers us, which is nice since we only see him once a year. I think he's been our bartender for the last 4 years.

Had a few drinks then it was time to head to the house.

The owner asked us if there was anything we would like upon our arrival. I wanted to see if he could get us shrimp chips. He delivered!

Stocked fridge.

and stocked pantry.

Ping pong, air hockey, Big Buck Hunter and a Claw machine with free play!

They even had Ring a Bull game in the backyard.

After everyone arrived we headed out to Fuego at Hotel Maya for a drink. We mainly visited here to park our cars and walk over to Queen Mary's Dark Harbor. The parking at Dark Harbor was packed and they were charging $20+ for parking. If you dine at Fuego they'll validate you up to $25.

Plus the view of the harbor at Fuego is amazing.

We haven't been back to Queen Mary for a few years. It was packed. Has gotten quite popular since. We got BOGO tickets with Fast Fright (shorter line) for $40 a ticket. Just getting into the event was chaotic. Luckily there's a separate Fast Fright entrance.

Looks like Tera and Tammy have a bit of anxiety.

First maze we hit was Intrepid. It was an awesome haunt maze with one particular effect that I really enjoyed.

The Cabanas. Didn't seem like anyone was booking them. Starting at $99 just for a Cabana is a waste of money in my opinion. I think they should apply that credit towards food and drinks. I think that way people would book them, but for just a place to sit, it's not worth the money.

Feast was our second maze. It was so dark on the ship that at some point I was going in the wrong direction.

The general line for Feast. Glad we had Fast Fright.

Got hungry after Feast. It was time to eat.

Tammy and I got pulled pork tots. It was delicious.

Circus was our next maze. Apparently there are 4 hidden bars at the event. You have to get a wooden token to get access and even if you had the token, you'd still have to find the hidden bar. I found a few of them, but weren't allowed entry because we didn't have the token.

B340 was our last maze and probably the longest we waited. With Fast Fright it still took us about 30 minutes to get into the maze.

We left the event around 11 pm. We missed out on two mazes. The event was awesome but packed. The mazes are very creative and there were a few creative effects that stood out, that I have never seen before.

That ends day 1. Tomorrow it's off to Disneyland.
