The wife and I decided to do a quick local getaway for our anniversary. Our check-in wasn't until later in the evening so we drove up early to Sonoma County to play a quick round of golf at Sebastopol Golf Course the course is on a first come first serve basis and doesn't accept reservations.
We finished around 1pm and headed to The Barlow Market which was hosting the Head West marketplace the same weekend we were there.
After the marketplace had lunch at Blue Ridge Kitchen
Blue Ridge Drunken Fried Chicken: Kentucky hot butter, apple honey. This dish was fantastic, the chicken was so crispy, juicy, and had great flavor.
Smoked Gouda Mac & Cheese, Collard Greens w/ braised bacon
Wood-Grilled Salmon: hardwood grilled salmon, creamed brussels sprouts, rainbow chard, crispy smashed potatoes, salsa verde, pomegranate gastrique. My wife loved this dish.
Lavender Pana Cotta: blueberry compote, fresh mint, crumble, sour cream foam. This was amazing, could have eaten a whole bowl of this.
After a late lunch, it was time to check in to our little spa getaway.
I was a bit skeptical when I booked this Airbnb. The pictures were amazing and looked very professionally done. I'm talking travel magazine quality. So I didn't expect the place to look as good as the photos and boy was I wrong. My photos fail in comparison to their website photos, but in person, the place was everything I could have hoped for and more.
Upon entering the home you have a little station with natural oils, aromatherapy, facial spritz, wipes, etc...
You have the entire home to yourself and a beautiful private backyard with a pool, sauna, tiki bar/lounge, and outdoor shower.
Inside the Tiki Bar lounge area which includes a hammock.
The Sauna, which can also play music from your phone or the already included playlist.
The outdoor shower is tucked in a corner covered by bamboo with natural body wash, shampoo, and conditioner.
The bathtub was equipped with natural oils, Epsom salt, and soap.
Coffee bar with french press & pour-over.
After we settled in I did some thermal cycling. The pool is equipped with a solar heater but during the winter months, I don't think it gets enough sunlight to keep warm. Which was perfect for thermal cycling.
The pool was ice cold. A lot colder than I expect.
They even have a pillow bar so you can find your perfect pillow.
We had an amazing night's sleep.
Woke up early to make some coffee.
I thought this live wall plant was awesome.
We headed to breakfast at Willow Wood Market Cafe
French folded eggs: soft-set eggs slow-cooked in a double boiler with fontina cheese & basil. The eggs were really good.
Farmer's scrambled eggs: panizzera spicy chicken sausage, sweet peppers, red onions, home fries & white cheddar cheese.
We picked up some fruit, cheese, and jam & jelly from the outdoor marketplace yesterday and just enjoyed the house for the rest of the day.
We ordered delivery from The Meltdown for dinner.
Giddy Up Melt: slow-smoked brisket burnt ends, sharp white cheddar, creamy bbq sauce, and pickles. It was okay, the meat wasn't as tender as I expected.
Feelin' Groovy Melt: seasoned grilled chicken breast, bacon, portabella mushroom blend, Wisconsin provolone, spinach, and creamy herb spread.
Did some more thermal cycling on our last night.
and topped off the night with a nice hot shower outdoors.
Woke up super early just so I can enjoy a cup of coffee before we had to check out.
We had an amazing and relaxing stay here. I would definitely stay here again but for longer next time.
So our next destination will be Hawaii.
