13th Annual Halloween Trip Day 1: Amber Waves Haunted Lounge & Knott's Scary Farm

It's October again which means time for our annual Halloween trip!

So we were well on our way, but our flight got diverted to Long Beach Airport. Supposedly something to do with an Airshow. So this puts a huge interruption with our plans. They told us that they would have more info at the top of the hour. All of us were sitting near the front of the plane. Except for John and Robyn who wanted to sit in the bar near the restrooms since they were flying with an infant. We landed in Long Beach around 1:25 pm. The crew radioed over to John Wayne Airport but they didn't know what was going on. So we either wait 35 minutes just to get an update or we get off. We were about a 24min drive from our final destination. So I decided that we should get off. Since we sat at the front we got off the plane pretty quickly. The line was long for people who wanted to deboard because they had to manually check off the passengers that deplaned and to make matters worse they would have to sort through the checked bags of the passenger that got off and the ones that stayed. So while we were waiting for John and Robyn to deplane cause they were practically at the end of the line. Then they announced that they would refuel and head to John Wayne Airport. So I told John and Robyn to get back on the plane and that we would Uber to the airport and pick up our rentals. Tomi and I were on our way to get an Uber when I saw Alamo was also at Long Beach Airport. So I asked if they could pull my reservation. Which they said they could and associate that helped was nice enough to price match what we booked at John Wayne which was awesome. We got the rentals, but we still had to wait about an hour for them to sort out the baggage.

Eventually, we all made it to our vacation rental. It just took us a few hours.

I gathered up the group and headed to the Haunted Lounge at Amber Waves.

Peter likes beer a lot.

Haunted drinks & food.

Even though Tammy has gone with me for several years. She still doesn't like her monster friends.

The Monster's Revenge.

and they brought even more friends.

Road Kill Fries: loaded carne asada fries with hot Cheetos.

Inferno Wings

The Diablo Platter: Inferno Wings, The Grave Digger, Slaughterhouse Sliders, Blackcrow's Scorn of the Corn, The Drunken Pretzel, and Rabid Mini Corn Dogs.

Our friend Alvin and his family drove down to meet with us for a few bites.

She's milk wasted!

Diane is not impressed.

Brandon drove up to meet with us for some food and drinks and ended up joining us for Knott's Scary Farm along with our other friend Phil who's a local.

An Icee and Churro, this guy knows what he wants.

Ghost Town my favorite Scare Zone in Knott's.

The first maze we visited was Special Ops. This was going to be the last year before they retire it. I wonder what they are going to do next year. I love this maze. Laser Tag with Zombies what more can you want.

After Spec Ops we went in search of more drinks.

We watched the Hanging which IMO was very disappointing.

The whole gang in full force. I had several local friends and some that drove a distance to meet with us. Such a great time.

I was pretty burnt out with the whole fiasco of the day and drinking. We ended up leaving the park around 10:30 pm. We got a very long day at Disneyland tomorrow.
