San Francisco & House of Prime Rib review

Had the day off on a gorgeous Monday. So decided to head to San Francisco for the day.

Our first stop was breakfast at Los Gatos Cafe

Los Gatos Cafe
340 N Santa Cruz Ave
Los Gatos, CA 95030
(408) 354-4647

They have an awesome breakfast selection. If your going to stop by there you have to try their herb potatoes which is the main reason I went there.

It's a nice small little cafe but have a lot to offer. It was pretty busy for a Monday I must say.

I had the Papa's Santa Cruz. Which is Herb Potatoes topped with chicken, cheese, sour cream, guacamole, and tomatoes and comes with a bakery item of your choice. I added 2 eggs and chopped sausage to it. The special bakery item they had for the day was egg nog pound cake. Sorry ate it before I could take a pic of it. It was delicious.

Charyl had the Eggs Benedict. She said it was the best Hollandaise sauce she has had yet.

After the meal we headed up to S.F. It was a beautiful 68 degrees with clear skies all the way there. Our original plan was to check out the King Tut Exhibit @ the De Young Museum.

De Young Museum
Golden Gate Park50 Tea Garden Dr
San Francisco, CA 94118
(415) 750-3600

but on our way there we say banners for the

Walt Disney Family Museum at the Presidio
104 Montgomery St
San Francisco, CA 94129
(415) 345-6800
http://www.waltdisney.org/

(note: There are two Montgomery St in S.F make sure you enter the correct zip)

So we arrived at the De Young Museum but decided to check out the Disney Museum instead. So we punched in the address in the gps. For some reason when it listed in which city it list S.F twice on the gps. So I picked the first one. It lead us to Union Square shopping area. We were on Montgomery St and Sutter and we couldn't find the place. So I ended up calling the Disney Museum and found out that San Francisco has 2 Montgomery St and we were at the wrong one.

The lady told us that their location is not walking distance from where we were at. So we bailed on the plan and ended up shopping at Haight St.

We didn't spend that much time at Haight. After Haight we went to

House of Prime Rib
1906 Van Ness Ave
San Francisco, CA 94109
(415) 885-4605

Heard about this place for some time and wanted to check it out.

The place doesn't open till 4:30pm and that's just for the lounge. Dinner doesn't seat till 5:30pm. So we sat in the Lounge for a bit.

They offered complimentary still or sparkling water and a small snack.

The restaurant is pretty simple. I like that. I don't need to think or choose what to eat.
They have fish which you have to ask what they have avail, but your at the House of Prime Rib. So what do you think your going to have?

There are no appetizer choices. You just choose what size hunk of meat you want. Kids, small, med, or large. That's it. It's that simple.

All dishes come with bread, salad, cream of spinach or corn, baked or mashed potatoes, and Yorkshire pudding (not a desert)

Steaming hot sour dough bread. When Charyl cut it open steam was pouring out. It didn't show on the pic

There house salad was really good. It was a red wine vinaigrette I think, but it tasted like thousand island kind of and it was extra saucy.

They brought over what looked kind of like a lady finger. It was fresh from the oven. I think it was cornbread of some sort with roasted tomatoes in it.

The prime rib is cut and served at your table. Meat Cart.

The loaded baked potato is also opened and stuffed at table side.

Baked potato stuffing's. Butter, sour cream, chives, and bacon.

Charyl and I had the med cut.

Baked potato in all it's glory.

Yorkshire pudding. It's like bread pudding. Soaks up all the juices very well.

Charyl and I could not conquer the meal. It's a lot to eat.

It's well priced I think. All of that was under $40 each person. If you like Prime Rib then you should make a stop here.
